Good summary. You could keep it open if the 6% regular saver appeals. However, that'd mean running 3 accounts there* just for the regular saver (1st, eSavings, & regular saver), and you may wish to have something simpler!

    * Unless you cycled £1K per month through the 1st account or left cash in there making 0%.

To be honest I might have needed the First Direct next year around Feb to transfer an ISA, but I believe they have cut their rates again in October. Don't think the 6% is worth the hassle. But saying that £100 cash is better than MS vouchers.

    Thanks for you help BTW.

There's 2 M&S 'outlets' within 6 miles of my workplace, so my £100 gift card was worth over £200 to me. :)

Why £200? No problem finding stores I live in brum.

Clothes are cheaper than their main stores. End of line maybe, even last year's fashion, but less than 1/2 price.

    Nationwide need DD's.

Are you sure? Which Nationwide account needs DDs?

The Nationwide refer-a-friend incentive (£50 each) requires a switch including 2 DDs.

Can someone tell me how long I need to keep a Halifax Rewards account open after I have got the £100?
I am hoping to switch to it and then immediately switch to Santander 123, but want to make sure they don't try to claim their £100 back.
  • I have a redundant Halifax current account and a Halifax Clarity Account. My main account is First Direct and I am reluctant to change this.

Can I switch my Halifax Current account to M&S without affecting the Clarity card? I would quite like the M&S vouchers, which are as good as cash to me as I buy quite a bit of food and clothes, but I don't want to lose my Clarity card which I mainly use for overseas spending.

Of course you can keep the clarity credit card even though you switch Halifax Current Account with M&S. How ever if you have recently switched from another account to Halifax Current account and benefited with the incentive of £ 100. Then you have wait for some time or else they might claim back that £100.

Where in the Halifax switching offer terms does it say that?
