Do CAPTCHAS put you off comping?

Options
or adding comments, to any website..?

Some are so hard to read, I wonder if its really about stopping spam, or weeding out older people (who MAY have less than good eyesight), that aren't in the promoter's target demographic..

I might try 2/3 times, then give up.

I prefer competitions that do have captchas, even though some can be a pain in the neck. By my reckoning, a competition without captchas is more likely to be entered by these companies that charge people a monthly fee to enter of their behalf and probably have thousands more entries.
  • no. i think if they dont have captchas then they might not be proper comps and spam. captchas are also there to stop people using computer programmes to keep entering hundreds of times.
if i cant read a captcha clearly i just click the choose another one button or put the sound on and listen to it (theres a button at side usually)
although some of the newer captchas have been very big and easy to read words or phrases.
get bit fedup of the ones showing the signs with numbers on as sometimes far away pic.
having to comment doesnt bother me unless it only gives me an option to comment as facebook or wordpress as both mine are in different names so worry may invalidate entry especially for rafflecopter as it automatically logs in as my facebook and wont let me choose a differnt on.
its just as quick as filling in a form

They are simply very good at stopping automated entries.

Just as SAGA comps are limited to 50 and over if they didn't want old people they could just set an upper age limit or an age range.

There is always the audio option if they remain unreadable even when refreshed (although I found audio harder than the written ones).

I don't do them often but I prefer their ones as lots of them are common phrases or lines taken from movies/tv shows so even when several letters are unreadable there is a good chance at being able to guess at the words (and just for a bit of a fun I like spotting the Films/TV shows the lines are from)

I don't mind the numbers or movie quote ones, but I really hate the ones where you have to move things. Mainly because they are slow and clunky.
The one I really hate atm is that stupid Shreddies Nana one where you have to put shreddies in a suitcase, then have to wait for the film to start before you can press submit. The video gets right on my Thup'nnies as well.
I could type about 4 captchas in the time it takes to do one of those.
They seem to pop up on the Closer Clickies. Please get rid of them, they are annoying!!
    Be Lucky.
