Pulled up carpet so I could sand and varnish floors, found this, how to deal?

So my floor looks liek that above, with the border all the way around, can I sand it as I would the rest of the floor, or is there some kind of special thing I have to do to it?

Nope. Just sand it. It should all come up the same - at some point. It might take a bit more work (but it may not!)Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The brown varnish will gunk up your sanding sheets/belt so make sure you've got spares before you start!0

True. Start with the middle, when sheets or belts become near-worn-out, head for the sides.
Believe it or not, it's a good sign, shows the boards are likely good quality, as they've been on display before.0 -
