Pulled up carpet so I could sand and varnish floors, found this, how to deal?

So my floor looks liek that above, with the border all the way around, can I sand it as I would the rest of the floor, or is there some kind of special thing I have to do to it?

    Nope. Just sand it. It should all come up the same - at some point. It might take a bit more work (but it may not!)

    The brown varnish will gunk up your sanding sheets/belt so make sure you've got spares before you start!

    True. Start with the middle, when sheets or belts become near-worn-out, head for the sides.

    Believe it or not, it's a good sign, shows the boards are likely good quality, as they've been on display before.

    Is it just me or do you have wood effect wallpaper?

    Those floorboards look like they'll come up a treat though :)

    Not my pic :) It's just a stolen one I got from the interwebs to show the floor :D - If I had wooden walls, I think I'd have to pull that off straight away!! :rotfl:
