Electric fire lead.

we have just bought an electric fire to replace an old gas fire, however the lead is too short to reach a nearby socket. I do not want to plug into an extension lead but would prefer to take the back off and fit a longer lead. Will the 3core cable I have in the shed do or should I require a specific type of cable for the task ??.

What 3 core cable do you have? What is the CSA of the cable? You'll want at least 1.25mm sq.

Removing the back cover invalidates the warranty and probably also rids it of its CE rating.

1)If you do not know the answer to that, then you should not be tampering with an electrical appliance.
2)How can anyone on here possibly know what sort of cable you have in your shed.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
