Pip initial information pack?

Would any one know please? I applied for pip end April 2014 and heard nothing until yesterday when recieved an initial pip information pack telling us we would recieve an appointment in time, how long is it usually you recieve the appointment after this letter, it is with capita health.. Any advise would be appreciated. The claim is for my son who turned 16 in April and being on dla indefinatly we had to claim pip as he turned 16. Many thanks.

  • A 5 month wait for that is unacceptable, did they stop paying his DLA?
Had you received nothing from them at all until yesterday?
If all this is the case i would see my MP and make a complaint to the PIP people as well

DLA continues to be paid at the same rate until a PIP decision is made.
Assessments are really, really slow at the moment.
  • You really need to keep on top of this , as if you don't the claim may get caught up in all the backlog. Contact your MP,and get them to fast track the claim for you !

Do not push for an assessment unless it's likely you will get more benefit.
many people will get less on PIP - and pushing for an assessment which otherwise may take a year or two is not a good idea then.
