Thanks, how about Cannes? Which would you guys say is the better place out the two?

I prefer Cannes, beach is sandy, nicer eating, more resort than city by the sea. Agay is ok for a smaller place. St Raphael and Frejus are cheaper. Tripadvisor forums are very useful for restaurant reviews etc.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I have a few French newspapers online daily.
You need the Nice-Matin or Var-Matin[mine] and the weather's been glorious all week - hier 26, grand soleil.
Keep checking:

23 and 24 today. Get into the arrière pays too. Beautiful, beautiful beloved Var, also stark and stunning, but wonderful auberges and markets. Make a couple of hours to get high up somewhere in the Alpes and look down on the M!d.
Have a glorious few days - best euro rate for a couple of years too.

Cannes is a dump, but richardw is right that the beach is better than the one at Nice. Personally I preferred both St Raphael and Frejus, although if you want to do 'big town' stuff then Nice is the best place. It's pretty easy to get a train along the coast for a day trip.0

I'm currently a bit further east near the Italian border. It's nearly 6pm here and 26c. Been coming here for years and years - September is a great time of the year as it's far less busy and still pleasantly warm. Not a fan of Nice though, but that's just my personal opinion and the beaches there are bound to be fairly busy at the weekend - but if you want shopping then that's probably the place to go.Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Have a look at Menton, we had a great camping holiday there in Sept a few years ago.0
