NCD moving from car to van

I am slightly confused regarding the transfer (if possible) of No Claims Discount.

I currently have 6 years NCD on a car policy which also names my wife. I am shortly about to acquire a leased van to replace my car, but would require to sell my car after delivery of the leased van. This leased vehicle comes about 3/4 the way through my car policy.

The car is worth about £5000, whilst the new van is £25,000.

I have tried a few of the main comparison sites but each one specifies that I cannot transfer or mirror my NCD. I either obtain insurance for the van with 0 years NCD, and continue using the car for the week or so after receipt of the van when it will be sold (I have repairs to do on it in order to successfully sell it)- then I cancel the car policy whist paying a larger van premium.

OR

I state my current NCD entitlement to my prospective van insurer, and stop using the car/cancel car policy on receipt of the van (which makes things awkward for driving to garage for repairs and selling the car).

Whilst, I have been only seeking quotes online, does it make any difference actually having a telephone conversation with a human to explain this problem.

Any advice appreciated.

Its ok folks, I Googled the problem (dont know why I did`nt do it in the first place) and have list of sites which mirror NCD. Phewwww!
