Time for a new freezer?

Ancient chest freezer is developing lots of 'snow' around the inside rim under the lid and probably needs a new seal. Model is 'obsolete'. Still keeping it's temperature (used thermometer to test). It has worked very well for years and been defrosted every 6 months, is it time to replace the big white beast? or can I coax it along until after Christmas?

Do you have the money to replace it?

The seals don't matter so much on a chest freezer.

I'd look around for one that is heavily discounted and be ready to buy when you find it.

I have a massive chest freezer that is at least 35 years old.
It frosts up around the lid now & then but I just scrape it off maybe 2 or 3 times a year.
I think the springs on the back of the lid possibly could do with adjusting.
But BE CAREFUL they could break on an old freezer & there are no spares for replacement.
If you buy a new one it will be more energy efficient but I would leave it alone myself.

It will be gaps in the seal.

    there are generic replacements.

another solution may be a couple of weights

you are not over filling that's what causes our problems

if on one area the lid may be twisted.

Leave well alone, keep the frost around the lid at bay and wait until it breaks, Then buy a five year old 2nd hand 1 for £150 that will last another godzillion years.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
