DVI cable - 300% if not on ebay?

I'm normally much more one to give tech advice than to ask for it but this issue leaves me stumped - I want 5 meters of DVI dual link cable, which you can get from ebay for easy under a tenner
trouble is this seller has ripped me off, I can't be bothered to wait until he's made to pay me back or ebay pay me back- and I don't want to wait for ebay again
the thing is you look at DVI cable on high st, normal shops and the jump in price is nothing short of incredible
does anyone know of any decent non online retailers who sell DVI cable at a suitable rate within the enormous gap in the market between ebay and places like PC world or worse, maplin?
Thanks

How about Amazon?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSL-gold-plated-resolution-2560x1600-tin-plated/dp/B00JILLKFG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410001771&sr=8-1&keywords=dvi+dual+link+cable+5m
If you (or someone you know) has signed up to Amazon prime, you can have it delivered tomorrow for £7.15
I know that you asked for non online retailers, but I think that you will struggle to find a good deal on such a cable on the high street as these small items are what the retailers rely on for their profits.0 -
CPC.. £9.74 (free deliver on orders over £5) and fast service.

oops sorry.. 'non online'. didn't read right, but they do usually deliver next day!0 -
thanks for your input - I'm going to look at both of these options , definitely the sort of price I'd expect to pay
does anyone know of any literally just jump in car and get options? I can't think of any other than PC world/maplin and if I pay either's going rate for DVI cable, I fully deserve my membership of this forum cancelling immediately - the mark up is beyond reasonable , it's shocking!0 -
That's how they can charge what they do - if somebody needs a cable quick badly enough they'll pay. So will those without the gumption to check the pricing or those that think if it's more expensive it must be better.andydiysaver wrote: »does anyone know of any literally just jump in car and get options? this was useful actually as not being an amazon man until now I managed to get a free trail so I went with this offershaun_from_Africa wrote: »How about Amazon?

on first glances this is an Experian credit expert all over again i.e. join , then make herculean effort to UN JOIN and you have a month to do it - otherwise they will charge you premium
so I used a card I don't normally use - I will let them know before a month - that's the irrelevant phone-call - they'll charge me anyway - the only relevance of it is that I now have a name of the person who agreed cancellation at Amazon. the relevant phone call is the one I make after that and reorder that same card for lost and stolen - I know what these "offers" are like
Thanks for your help

I have to say maplin in particular I completely love - its all the big boys toys in one place, I'm a typical bloke, hate shopping yet I could spend an afternoon In therekwikbreaks wrote: »That's how they can charge what they do - if somebody needs a cable quick badly enough they'll pay. prices however range from steep, to outright ridiculous, on cable it's ridiculous. They have this pure connectivity range that looks great, retails for 40 or 50 quid a go, for what is, in plain terms, an insulator and several conductors. these are clearly the giffen good/its pricey must be great mentality as in this day and age a cable is a cable unless the workmanship is well below par.
their secret is to get all this great kit in one place. I go in there with some good ideas and I walk out of there with an ebay shopping list!0 -
The rule with Maplin is to never buy unless it's on special. If it is on special still price check against eBay/Amazon. Much of the stuff Maplin sell is the same Chinese tat you buy on eBay sold at a markup over the delivered price on eBay. I do occasionally buy from Maplin but only when I'm in a desperate hurry.
You can sometimes find the odd item at Currys/PC World cheaper than anywhere else - I recently bought a Logitech wireless mouse over £2 cheaper than the next best price I could find in google shopping. It was a click and collect thing - they couriered it next day to my local branch and it cost less than £8. Madness.0 -

its true, often I can go on alibaba and see exact replicas of what is on sale at maplin - I think their business model is based on laziness of the modern man and the reckoning that if they can get all this tat in one place you turn up and you're up for paying quadruple price..... not a bad model, it's well presented and a lot of it looks great funkwikbreaks wrote: »The rule with Maplin is to never buy unless it's on special. it's not all mega margin, most of it is, but if you're after a couple of parts for a circuit, can't beat them next to the faf it would be to get hold of the same parts otherwise.0
