Sky deal - can I do better?

Hi all,

Moving to a new flat and need broadband. My flatmate is insisting we have sky TV. I went through moneysavingexpert and quidco and this is what I am getting:

Line rental
Unlimited broadband (free)
Family bundle + HD + 3d (50% off for 6 months)
£100 pre-loaded MasterCard

1st 6 months - £31.90, 2nd 6 months £48.40 = £480ish for the year. I can always cancel the family bundle if money saving is needed.

The reason I ask if this is a good deal as because it is for a flat the order had to be completed over the phone (scam!) - so I seem to not be eligible for about £100 from topcashback.

Is this still good without topcashback or can it be bettered?

Thanks!

You can't just cancel the tv package and walk away free.

If you cancel without the required month's notice or within the initial 12 months minimum term, you will have to pay a penalty. In the latter case proportional to the time left in the minimum term.

You should read the terms& conditions, carefully.
  • The family pack cannot be downgraded within the first 12 months of you having sky as it puts you onto the basic HD package.

Do quidco and TCB have the same T&C for flat installs? There are 1/2 price for 12 month codes floating around so google search for that or just check on this site.

You can't cancel the Family Bundle until your twelve month minimum term is concluded, so count on paying all of that £481.80 in the first year. Any attempt to cancel before the first twelve months has ended will mean paying a Early Termination of Contract (ETC) fee equivalent to whatever remains of your yearly subscription.

Be sure your flatmate knows this also.
  • Okay fair enough, thanks guys. I thought the lady on the phone said I could change my package any time during the twelve month contract but I guess not.

Other than that - do think I can get a better deal for Sky TV/broadband etc? Or am I doing well enough.

    Thanks
