Hi all.
Mine and my husbands life insurance has come to an end and I am looking to take out another policy for us both. My husband is now a type 2 diabetic. And I would like some advice on the best company to go with for our insurance. Many thanks

Would suggest that you get advice from a diabetic charity, as normally sites such as this does like recommendations being given in forums. Each application is individual and what might be best for one person, may not be for another.
http://www.diabetes.org.uk/How_we_help/Financial_services/Life-assurance-/The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0 -
We've just done a T1 (with none of the usual T2 add-ons such as BP, cholesterol, BMI etc) and the quote is 2 x ordinary rates.
Speak to a protection specialist and see who/what they can obtain for you.I am a mortgage broker. I deal with a lot of clients with pre-existing conditions. For diabetics the main factors tend to be the number of years since diagnosis and the level of control (based on the hba1c reading).
This is in conjunction with the BP, cholesterol, BMI as Kingstreet mentions.
Each provider will have a different guidelines therefore it's certainly worthwhile speaking to a protection specialist or IFA who deals with a lot of protection cases and who can source the best provider based on the end terms.0 -
Diabetes UK have special deals, including for travel insurance, but they are not necessarily cheaper than elsewhere.0
