Top Cashback

I have never used any cashback sites before but was tempted by the MSE offer on AA cover. 15 monthe for the price of 12 and £63 cashback on our £155 bill. Very good value.

However, the transaction did not appear on my account and TCBack are currently looking into this. I made one other purchase through them (airport parking) and it listed straight away.

Are these sites all they are cracked up to be -- will I get my money eventually? Or are they not worth bothering with? £63 is a lot to lose and I wouldn't have gone with the AA if I didn't think the offer was legit originally.

The majority of mine go through. When purchases haven't tracked, generally they do get agreed eventually. The times that transactions have been declined (for me, I'm aware other people sometimes have more problems) have been when I've invalidated them by using other discount codes.
To be sure they do track, it's often advised to use a different browser and make sure that you delete all cookies first. And pick the best deal for you based on other factors - the cashback is a bonus. I usually work on the basis that it might not go through so if it doesn't I haven't lost out.
It's not up to topcashback to decide if you get paid or not, it's the merchant you're paying the money to with TCB being the middleman as it were. If the merchant turn it down for any reason then TCB don't pay up instead.
There's a thread on here somewhere with a TCB rep who can look into things for you further down the line if there are problems, although people don't always get the answer they want.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • Generally speaking I'm all for cash back websites - I've made several hundred pounds from TCB in the last few years. The offers are legit, however, I make it a rule not to rely on the cash back to get a good price. It's just a nice little bonus.

No. Does it say you need to as I wasn't aware of this? I was definitely logged in on TCB and clicked through from there. The parking cashback worked OK without clearing cookies.

I looked into the AA deal the other day and i think it said something about it not paying for about 6 months or so? not sure though. I have used topcashback and quidco in the past and think topcashback is the easiest and the best, pays well, usually tracks ok and has a wide selection of offers x

Cashback is for new customers only. If you have received a renewal invite from The AA for Breakdown cover in the last 60 days then your cashback will be declined. You can now earn cashback if you pay for your AA Breakdown using annual direct debit only. Please note your cashback will take 6 months to be processed. We will not pay any cashback for the policies that have been cancelled or are in arrears at the time of validation. If you wish to receive your cashback sooner, you will need to pay in full amount via credit or debit card at the time of purchase. validation period will usually be about 60 days from policy start date when paying in full.

6 months for payable but should track straight away
  • That's what I thought. I wasn't expecting payment, just for it to be registered as pending on the site.
