background.......brother has a 3 bed detached with garage on the side, c1995.
his garage has been flooding in bad rain and hes been trying to find out why.
after getting dynarod in it seems his garage gutting eneters the ground and the stops approx 2 ft after a 90 turn towards his house. the drain guy showed him on camera and the drain just stops and theres soild ground there. no collasped pipe or anything.
brother has rang insurance and there coming round next week. drain guy said it could be subsideance and the drain has sunk.
any ideas if insurance will pay out?

My mum had an issue of her garage moving because the drainpipe at the back of the house just went into the ground, so all the water flowed into the ground under the garage. Her house was older than your brothers but basically they dug a long drainage / soakaway channel for the downpipe (all underground). The garage had to be pulled down and rebuilt with new foundations, they also put an actual drain at the front of the garage as water would flow into the front of it previously from a sloped drive and there was no drain before. Seems a lot of the garages were added to houses as afterthoughts when they were being built and not exactly well planned out. This was covered on the insurance although did her premiums no favours. Every case is different though so the insurance guy will be able to advise better.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Nobody will know if the insurers will payout, except the insurers. It depend on the policy, what the actual cause is, whether its deemed as poor workmanship or lack of maintenance etc etc.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0 -
Insurance is not intended to pay for lack of maintenance or bad construction.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
