                    Hi
Newbie with a video camera...need some help please
Created a 14 second clip, sent it to PC to view and the file size is 12160kb - is that right? its huge!
It is a .mpg file extension.
Can these be made smaller?
Thanks...

12MB is okay, quality should be good though.. I guess in the options there may be settings to change quality (lower quality, smaller the size).0

converting it to summat like a wmv file will decrease the file size by a factor of about 10.
the quality will be much poorer though.Get some gorm.0

You can convert it with the Xvid or DivX codec without a too apparent loss in quality.
These codecs are used to shrink DVD Videos on to CDs.
Why do you want to reduce the file size?0

you can send files through Putfile http://www.putfile.com once you upload the file just highlight the link and press Ctrl C and in your E/mail your sending just click Ctrl V and the person who recieves the e/mail can click the link to view it and can upload if they want hope this is of help0

Other alternatives are YouSendIt; http://www.yousendit.com/ for limited releases and Badongo; http://www.badongo.com/ if it's a file that you like to keep and share. You'll need to create a free account with Badongo, in order to keep the files.0

X-Vid or DivX files can be DVD Quality (depending on Source) & 1 minute of Video (inc Audio) should be 10-13MB. (thats TV - DVD Quality)
To eMail to Friends/Family WMV may be easyer on their end to PLAY (if they dont have X-Vid or DivX installed they wont see the Video) or unless they Download VLC Media Player (FREE)0

 Erm.... never mind.
You don't need a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
You can utilise the small download of Nic's XviD CoDec; http://nic.dnsalias.com/XviD_Install.exe or Koepi's XviD CoDec; http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml0
