What would you do? - decisions decisions
Having trouble deciding best course of action after no fault accident this week.... what would you do?
My 2002 Peugeot 206 was hit by a runaway driverless car this week (parked on hill w/o handbrake!). My car will be an insurance write-off, after excesses would expect to get £300-400. Only 4 weeks ago I spent just under £900 getting gearbox and clutch done. Took to garage to see costs to get back on road bypassing insurance, rough estimate £800-900 ( pretty sure cosmetic damage only to front corner)
Have no money to pay for another car or repairs, will have to borrow. Just can't decide what makes more sense - to get it repaired or start again and get another old used car. Could potentially borrow about £2000-3000 for it. I keep changing my mind about best way forward.
Also is it a good move to contact man whose car hit me (business car) and suggest he pays repair bill?

You can see if the third party insurer accepts liability.
If so and you want to keep your car and repair it then they will let you for a small payment which they will deduct from the settlement.
Neither the third party nor any insurer can be expected to pay for repairs if the car is just not worth it0 -
Contact the owners insurer and ask them to pay out on it.
Not sure why contacting him or his insurer wouldn't be the first port of call

Remember you won't be paying an excess if you are claiming from a third party
