are car dealers (major franchises) covered by the sale of goods act??
i bought a car in May, it faulted 3 days later, in and out of garage 3 times, can't fix it, offered a replacemant at AN EXTRA COST TO ME OF £750 because its the nearest they can find!!!!
every time i tell them i want a refund, they are stalling and saying im not inconvenienced because i have a courtesy car...
the car i bought was a Volvo V50, roofbars, tow bar etc which i need for my job...the courtesy car is a Citroen DS4, no roof bar , tow bar etc so im very inconvenienced
i am at the end of my tether and want a resolution.
am i entitled to a refund ??

If they can't repair it you are entitled to a refund.0

thank you, ive read all the sale of goods act and trading standards info but couldn't find anything to say if it covered cars...0

It doesn't exclude it either - and it covers the sale of goods on the whole.
If the fault isn't deemed fair wear and tear and you've had it more than 28 days the they can effectively choose the most cost effective remedy, repair, replace or refund. If they cannot repair or replace (like for like) then really only leaves a refund.
I guess their argument is you are not inconvenienced whilst they source a replacement?0
