CTC renewal?

I haven't had Child Tax Credits in about 5 years. We were over the threshold and they wouldn't help us when dh was unemployed.
But recently I changed from DLA to PIP and was awarded a higher amount. My PIP kicked in last week and today I noticed on my bank account an odd payment of £1.01 from them. This afternoon I have tried to get through after receiving a letter reawarding us Tax Credits. But I didn't do a renewal and I don't understand why I have it.
Is it normal for people on Enhanced daily care to get tax credits?

I'm married and had a joint claim with my husband. Husband does work full time and as far as I was last aware, was over the threshold to allow us to have tax credits.
I receive PIP and work sporadically.
I tried for hours last night to get through and no luck again today. Will need to wait until Monday afternoon now when I am finished work.0 -
I can't get through to them. Haven't renewed in a number of years as we were over the threshold and were only to phone and renew if our income dropped below something which it won't. They didn't even send me a renewal pack last year or this year.
It was only when I noticed £1.01 in my bank account and then got a letter yesterday that we were entitled due to a change in circumstances due to the award of PIP.
Bloody automated system doesn't understand my accent either.0 -
It says it is an amended tax credits award for 14/15 and then talks about Child tax credit. Then it says "why are we writing to you" The personal circumstances of Groovee have changed.
on the working out it says Working tax credit £0.00 then the Child tax credit £x award for basic family element.
I can only presume it's been flagged up from DWP as the letter is dated the day after my PIP kicked in.0
