  • i tend to only enter comps that i want the prize or if i know friend or family member may enjoy. i enter loads of comps for mobiles and tablets so i may sell on if i end up winning more than 1comp!! and as-new iphones tend to go for around £300 and ipads for more.
i also enter a lot of pet comps but if i win something that is not usful for min eg a small sized coat or collar (mine are all big) then i will keep in box as i know friends will get puppies or we will have boarders that need them
but so far have never sold anything
  • I got £92 for some concert tickets that I didn't even enter for. Was that Capital FM Christmas FB comp where you passed parcels around your friends and one I got sent had the tickets in! I was delighted because as luck would have it I thought I was going to be in London that evening for work so would have been able to use them but turned out we came back the day before so I sold them to a local mum and daughter who by all accounts had a great time. Went into my holiday savings fund :)

I never enter for tickets to anything - do they not normally state your name or something on them, so that they're not transferable? Or box office pick up? I would enter for ticket comps, and sell on if I won something I couldn't go to, but hadn't realised tickets would be saleable.

I think it varies, I have won tickets to things that have been posted to me and then I have won tickets that I can only collect on the day. I would check the T&Q's it might say on there.

Also I'm guessing would depend on the end date of the comp to the date of the ticket?

When they email me I usually say is it ok to give them to my brother or whoever & they have always said yes.

I gave my brother tickets for the Superbike races at Donnington this weekend & The Moto gp at Silverstone last weekend.

Think it depends on the comp.

Selling tickets for box office collection can be somewhat risky - i remember turning up for an event and the company hadn't left tickets at the box office.

I'm always scared to sell :rotfl:! I don't know... I'm always worried the comp provider would jump out from behind a bush saying "you have violated the terms!"

Fortunately if I decide I don't want something, there is always a friend who can benefit :D
  • £1,000 for an American Fridge freezer worth twice that
    £800 for another fridge freezer

Most of my prizes go to the family but these two were too big

I sold a Britannia Range Cooker for £1500 it was worth about £2500. Used it to buy a new boiler.

Over the years I've sold various cameras, headphones, a washing machine, computers and lots of stuff. Use the money for travel which is my treat to myself rather than stuff.

I've on'y been comping for about a month (if that) so not had anything worthwhile to sell.
I only enter comps that I know where the prize will go though, I don't really enter comps that I don't have a use for ... Like my best friends sister just had a baby so I'll go for baby / kid prizes for him, My bosses wife loves all the handbags and makup stuff so I'll maybe enter a comp with the intention of winning something to give to him/her (but not very often unless it's really easy, ie a Click to win with no Captcha)

I'd love to win a tablet, and if I did win one I would still enter another competiton to win more, which I would probably sell (but more than likely to friends at half the price).

So yeah, that was a long !!! way of saying I havn't sold anything yet :)

But good luck to you all, if you win stuff you don't want / need and can sell it on for a profit, good for you, who are we to judge ... your just as likely and deserving to win as everyone else and what you do with it is your call.
  • I have sold a number of items over the years which has helped pay whilst on maternity leave, renovate my house and pay off some debts. The bigger ones I remember are:

£2000 bathroom products - sold on ebay for approx £700 in total
Mac book - sold on gumtree for £600
IPod touch - sold on gumtree for £120 (used this money to pay for rigid tiles which blew of my roof earlier this year in the storms)

I think as long as what you win benefits you it's worth winning! I don't enter many comps to win things like DVDs or CDs but if I win one as a runner up I have sold them on amazon if they are not my cup of tea. Also looking forward to sending a present to some of the ill children as per one of the posts. I have a DVD bundle of children's films so will be donating these.
