New Boiler Quote

Hello, newb here

Just had BG come and quote for a replacement boiler. I know, they are expensive, but we have their boiler service contract and it was just convenient.

I just wanted to get a feel of whether the quote they have given me is extortionately expensive or in if I can save £,000s by going with someone else.

We currently have a Worcester Bosch Highflow 400 RSL in our airing cupboard. It is nearly 15 years old and was installed by the previous owner.

BG have quoted £5,056 for the following:
BG 537 boiler
Re-site boiler to wall mounted from floor standing
Flue extension and replacement, current one not to current spec
Condensate pipework and pump
New gas pipework from meter into the roof-space and along to the new boiler. The diameter of the current pipework is not big enough.
Powercleanse and System Water Treatment (£96)
22mm Magnetic System Filter (£59, after a discount)
Optional HIVE heating system (£199)

Any advice / comments / thoughts very much appreciated.

Proberbly near double the price you would get from independent

thanks jcb, i have spoken to them again and apparently it is an extra £1200 because we have to have a vertical flue and our old one taken out. Can't imagine it would be that much, surely

Check on eBay. A few plumbing firms offers Like for Like boiler replacement for between £900 and £2000 dependant on your boiler choice.


I very much doubt there will be a lot of pipework to change, except for a 22mm gas pipe.
