Sourcing Kitchen Units

All,
I am looking at a new kitchen, to be fitted by a carpenter / builder friend.
I have done the Howdens / B&Q / Homebase quotes and obviously come up expensive.
My Homebase quote had the Oven, Hob, Hood and Sink priced at double than that online.
So I am using the quote to source units myself, I'm ok with the oven etc.
Does anyone have any recommendations for worktops online and kitchen units, that I can knock up myself, and saves a days labour for the fitter!
I have managed to find the same laminate work top for £49 per 3m where Homebase were quoting £149....
Its infuriating the markup they put on things! Ah well, that is business

Lots of excellent recommendations for DIY Kitchens on here so check that out. I used Howdens and was very happy but did beat hte price down heavily to 90% on many things....0
