I believe the alison.com courses have a reasonably good reputation.
  • Are you looking to learn for a career or for personal interest or gain? If you're not making a career out of it look online for forums and stuff where people learn for fun without paying anything. You don't need a course to learn, you just need one if you plan to become a professional.

Thanks all, the course seems to be free, amazing unless there is a hidden catch.
Just need to understand how to take over an existing website and improve/update it.

Equivalent of an A-Level, at least in the framework. Though matched up rather than officially recognised. You won't receive any official qualification for doing it.

It's free so for personal interest and learning it looks great. Also, have you considered Codecademy who offer some interesting learning materials.

Will it give you the knowledge to take over and improve an existing website? Probably not, unless the existing site is very basic.
  • try googling for info, asl idotd guide books
