Faulty boots

Hi,
I bought some quite expensive riding boots on Sunday. Wore them once and one boot leaks water terribly. Just walking up to the field and my foot was soaked.
I bought them in a shop and paid by debit card.
I rang the shop who said they would ring me back.
They did and said they had spoken to the manufacturers and they were shocked. Having had this brand before I was shocked too but these things happen. I just wanted a replacement and they have said maybe?
They want me to bring them back in 2 weeks time when they have more stock in and they may or may not replace them. They will have to check that they really do leak first and they have to do this because the manufacturers say so.
Im at a loss now, no boots, no guarantee of a replacement and all trust lost in this shop.
I would actually rather just have my money back and buy them elsewhere.
Where do I stand?
Thank you.

The Sale of Goods Act let's you demand a full refund for goods that don't conform to contract if 'acceptance' has not yet occurred. There are several ways acceptance can occur, but the most common way is the passage of a reasonable amount of time. Less than a week would almost certainly be considered to be within a reasonable time, so you should be able to get a full refund.
The shop is entitled to check that the goods are indeed inherently faulty (and not damaged from misuse for example), but your right to a refund is not dependent on them being able to get a refund from the manufacturer.0 -
Go for a refund, in this instance you are entitled.0
