working 30 hrs/tax credits

Hi
I have 2 part time jobs ; one working 18.5 hours which will stay the same for at least the next school year and another in which I have an 8 hour contract but have been working 17.5 for the past couple of weeks. I have told tax credits I am working more than 30 hours a week and believe I get a slightly higher payment for doing so. Now my hours in 2nd job have been reduced and I will be working either 11 or 11.5 hours; making 29.5 or 30 hours per week in total. So my question is, do I have to get back in touch and tell tax credits?

That's the problem - could be 29.5 one week and 30 the next....

If you're a single person with no children, 29.5 will make you ineligible for WTC.

I think the number of hours worked gets averaged out over a 13 week period. If the average is 30 hours or more a week, then you can still claim WTC.

Overtime hours can be included in the number of hours worked.

There is no 13 week period.

If you don't work the required hours for 4 weeks or more then you'd need to stop claiming.

That is 4 consecutive weeks, I assume?

So you couldn't put in a new claim on a week when you work, say 29.5 hours in that week. Even if you work 30 the next week.

    Is that correct?

I'm a single mum with one 15 year old, so I get child tax credits too. 18 year old DD off to uni next week - not used to saying only one child!
