Scrollcraft.co.uk - has anyone used this company

I recently got 2 quotes for some iron gates from a couple of companies. I found scrollcraft.co.uk online and contacted them for a free quote. I gave them my sizes over the phone and they gave me a verbal quote which was £50 cheaper than the other quote. They then sent a representative round to measure up and they added £500 onto the price of the quote. I decided to use the other company as the posts being used were bigger, the metal was being galvanised, the price was £450 cheaper and they never sent me a written quote as promised.

My problem is now scrollcraft keep phoning me stating I owe them £60 for the free estimate that they supplied, even though the website says free and I never received a written quote. They keep using foul language that I can't even publish on this forum, and they keep texting threatening to turn up to collect the money.

Should I report them to the police?

I had a similar problem last year. I had an estimate for a new kitchen from a local company, after going with a different company I received abusive calls from the other company saying I deliberately wasted their time and they told me I owe them for the estimate and plans they had supplied. I eventually contacted the Police and reported the company because the calls were every day and very threatening. The Police came round to me and took a statement. After that the calls stopped and I have never heard from the kitchen company again. I would advise you to report to the Police any abuse or threats made directly to you.

Tell them you have contacted Trading Standards, who will be in touch with them in due course. Also add that you will contact the police if they continue to call. Free quote means free. That's why we get quotes, so we can choose which supply best suits our requirements. TS will also tell you if they have other issues with this shower.... good luck and be firm
