Working hours for tax credits

Hi, have the rules about how many hours you need to work for tax credits changed? And if you're under the threshold what can you do about it?
I became unemployed last week so have submitted a claim for JSA and HB but have the opportunity of a job for 16 hours a week - is it worth it? I'd rather work than not clearly but can't seem to find much info. I have two school-age children and am on my own. I sacked myself, my company wasn't working out and had to close.
Thanks in advance

As you are a single parent you qualify for WTC if you work at least 16 hours per week and you have low income.
Initially your award will be calculated based on 2013-2014 income but you can request an estimate of current years income be used if it's going to be a lot lower.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
Cool, thank you both. Last year's income wasn't great at all tbh so even such few hours won't be much under the figures they have already (which means they'll probably stay the same as they are and I will actually be better off yay)0
