Tax Credits Problems Once Again!!

It's been said many times before and Gaz83 (who used to work for Tax Credits) seems to agree.

Keep Tax Credits separate as much as possible. If there's anyway you can fiddle your budget not to count on that money then do.
It will stop/drop/change at some point and if you've worked it too far into your budget then you'll have problems.

We've only got the higher rate the last year, and now that £200 a month is lost in our budget and when it stops in September we are really going to suffer.

That's actually a very good point Gemmzie, I never thought of it like that! We are quite lucky that when I go back to work , we won't need to rely on that money as part of our budget (hopefully!!!) as DS is only going to nursery one day per week (God bless grandparents:kisses: ) and things are *slowly* getting under control.
I feel for people that rely on this money to survive tho, as the Government seem to be unable to find a system that works and benefits the people that actually need the money.... much like the CSA! According to the figures (Government figures I believe, but not 100%) something scary like £9bn was overpaid in tax credits, and they will only manage to recover about £2bn..... but he recover of that money is forcing many families into financial difficulty. The whole thing is a sham!

    Rant over, sorry :o

I had my final award weeks ago, then today I suddenly get an extra payment into my bank and a new award letter. Nothing has changed at all since april, but my tax credits have gone down. Then there is this random £523 they paid me today, no idea what it's for. I don't know about you but I never feel tax credits are mine to spend.

    hi all
we have not received any child tax for over a year now.
last year they said we owed £800 going back to 2003 i did write several times and eventually received a letter about it trying to explain it.(think this was in martion language or something.
i rang the other day to give new details and they said we still owe £500 and it looks like we will not be getting anything for another year +
we only used to receive £11.00 a week but it would really help on dmp if we still had this amount.
I have got use to not having this now but i work 19 hours and also do the odd mystery shop to make it up.
The problem was when my son was at nursery during school hols he was at nursery more and they increased my payments but they kept sending more then they needed to. They also paid us working tax as they totally missed my husband off the forms. I rang each time and they said dont worry about it it is correct.
anyway i am so over them and if and when they decide to pay us it will be a miracle.
we are definately not alone i know people who owe thousands to them as well.
    take care all

Trying to get any sense out of them is painful. I called them today to ask what was going on but all I got was that this is correct and that my payments will be right from now on. No explaination as to why I have reduced weekly payments now but a lump sum paid in today. So, I got off the phone and shifted todays money into a savings account for when they ask for it back. What a nightmare this all is.
