Tax Credits Problems Once Again!!

Happens every year, a Tax Credit F$$k up, We have been over paid by £500 add to that we are not entitled to working tax anymore as I apparantly earn to much, to much being min wage and the other half also min wage but 16 hrs a wk, add this £500 to the £2000 still remaining from the previous yrs f$$k up and we are in a bit of a mess.

So we where on a debt management plan with CCCS paying £200, they said its now being cut to £75 paying the creditors the min £5 each a month.

CCCS said the creditors will not be happy but what can they do? We have nothing of value I.E no home, car is wifes brothers, no valuables, so can the creditors do anything if we genuinely have nothing.

Before we had our last child a few months back they said phone up when your wife has the new baby and we'll reduce it. So we phone back, we where paying £80 a month, the cheeky $hits put it up to £100:mad:  So much for helping.

I told CCCS about this whole problem, they said they are doing this to everyone.

What a shambles the tax credit system is, all it does is rip of those who can't afford it

No advice but I received letter last night. I tell them religiously when we get pay rises, changes in nursery etc. I filled the last form in and said they had out incorrect details (despite us telling them over 5 times the real facts) and they have now written to me saying they are stopping payments (they told us in May we were no longer eligible so not received any anyway!) and they may penalise us as they are still waiting for us to contact them with our financial details

So for the 6th time I have to waste my time trying to ring them to give the details, probably for them to lose them AGAIN!! In the space of a year according to them I have acquired a child I didn't know about (they asked me if I was sure I didn't have a 3rd child :rotfl: ) and they are over 18  Quite frankly I wish I'd never asked for it!

Hate that stress they put people through who really need their help - hope something is done soon about them.

Someone I know is recieving Tax Credits and Child benefits for her child.... altho she is a 45yr old childless woman  She has phoned them up goodness knows how mant times, only to be told that 'this month will be the last payment and we will send u a letter requesting the money back'..... this started 3 YEARS AGO!!! She has just been puttting the money into a seperate bank account ready for if they ever ask for it back..... Yet there are people out here in the real world who actually NEED that money just to survive!

Luckily so far, the worst that has happened to me is that I got two payments last week, one on Mon and one on Thurs, and nothing this week  so in some respects I am quite lucky.

The whole system is a sham, the form is ridiculously complicated, and the people who need the money the most are the ones who suffer

    tell me about it.

I haven't had a payment since May due to me changing my circumstances (becoming a single parent).

I called last week to chase up my claim only to be told that they hadn't recieved it. I was told that i will need to wait 10 - 12 days for HO to contact me about not recieving the form and that i 'might' need to send another one.

I would have thought that it would have been obvious that since they haven't recieved it, I would need to send in another.

I'm still waiting on a call and we're on day 10. I'll call them Friday.

Thankfully i can manage just now on what i have so any money i get will go straight to barclaycard

I can't believe your stories its disgusting I think I would complain to my MP they can't possibly know just how bad it is.

Surely if a family is on min wage they are entitled to so extra help some where especially if one is part time, I just can't get my head around it.

My heart goes out to you all.

I think you're entitled to at least basic CTC if you earn under £50k and have a child under 16 or up to 20 in full-time education.

Ur right, u get Child Benefit and then £10ish a week CTC, this is what we get anyway, when I go back to work, our household income is £45k.... God, now I;ve said that, where does all the money go!?!

It's been said many times before and Gaz83 (who used to work for Tax Credits) seems to agree.

Keep Tax Credits separate as much as possible. If there's anyway you can fiddle your budget not to count on that money then do.
It will stop/drop/change at some point and if you've worked it too far into your budget then you'll have problems.

We've only got the higher rate the last year, and now that £200 a month is lost in our budget and when it stops in September we are really going to suffer.
