Questions on ESA IR assessment rate - recieved £2k compo

Hi - Am writing for some advice and would be grateful for any input. Am on ESA income related full assessment rate £72.40 - Only received a couple of payments so far.

I have approx. £200 in bank account/savings and receive no other benefits etc as I am living with my parents as I require to be looked after and cared for currently.

I have received a compensation payout of £2k due to a prescription error back from earlier in year that led to me being very ill. This has nothing to do though with the problem I am off work for - am due in for major surgery shortly.

We cannot find any clear guidelines on this kind of situation (except for .gov. info) and what will happen and we are worried they will suspend/ stop benefit or cut the compensation (This incident happened well before I was in receipt of any kind of benefit). What is the likely outcome if anyone can advise?

As soon as compo was confirmed and cheque was received my father wrote a letter on my behalf with all my bank statements (6 months), all the doctors notes, insurance documents etc for transparency as I cannot really sort it due to health (and I have had to get a family member to type this for me because of my state).

Anyway I have received a txt saying
"thank you for info we requested we will be in touch regarding a decision regarding your ESA - you do not need to contact us"

They never asked for any info we were being upfront and transparent....

Also off the subject still haven't received one of these ESA 50? forms and its been a month and a half, wanted it just all sorted asap as I really do not need all the stress with the medical problems I have. Also wanted it all sorted before I went into surgery so I can be left alone in peace to recover and hopefully get back to work next year. Before we were told "it's not us that deals with that you need to wait for a form"

Such a nightmare, paid taxes all my life and never received any benefit and now I need some help am so shocked at the system. Would qualify for PIP both elements but from what we were advised - by the time I am assessed (bar all the stress which I physically and mentally cannot deal with) I will hopefully be 'in recovery' and hopefully will return to work next year in some capacity which is the aim; it just is not worth it - The point being I desperately need this compo and the ESA which I believe I am fully entitled to after years of contributing to the system. We are hoping with the chronicles of medical evidence and condition that after sending this medical form I would get put straight into support group anyway...

Please help and give advice to put my mind at ease.

Thanks in advance

The income related and "savings" and adding in "compo" as long as your savings dont go over £6k, then it will just be a case of letting them know for information only purposes, if your savings go into the 6k to 16k bracket, there would be a drop in the rate paid, over 16k and you wouldn't be entitled to the Income related, bit as youve not gone into that bracket then I wouldnt worry,

The theory is that a text is sent when any information is received in the office. The reality is that if it was actually done all the time no actual work would get done. The text is supposed to stop people contacting the offices but probably causes as many calls as it prevents.
As for the wording of the text you received, they are template messages and are not supposed to be modified, even if modification would create a more meaningful message. Hence the reason for receiving a confusing message!

Thanks for messages - Anyone else had experience of this kind of thing?

Based on replies it seems like it should all be fine (as we believe should be the case) so should we expect to get a letter in a few weeks but an automated one?

Also what about this ESA 50 medical form as it has been 5 weeks since been on ESA assessment and still haven't received one.

    Thanks in advance

There's massive ESA backlogs. Could still take weeks/months for you to receive the ESA50.

Even when I went on to ESA 2 years ago, I was suppose to have had the esa50 all completed within 13weeks, it was more like 6 mths, the backlogs now are even worse, just a case of sitting tight.

I would doubt that you would get anything from the DHSS, you may get a letter, more than likely it will just go on your file as information only xx
