Gatwick electronics check

I am due to travel through Gatwick soon and wanted to know if when they ask you to power on your electrical devices whether it is before it goes through x-ray or after.
The reason I ask is when I last went away earlier in the year before they made the change to the US one of my devices despite it being fully charged after going through x-ray it came out the other side dead so worried just in case the same thing happens here and then they ask me to start it up!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I've travelled through Gatwick twice, Heathrow and Belfast since the announcements back in July, not once have I been asked to turn any electricals on.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Ditto above. Three times through LGW since the new rules came into place. Twice on USA flights. No checks made. I actually mentioned it when I went through security shortly after the news of the new checks broke. The security man just laughed and told me not to believe anything reported in the Daily Mail! (I don't!)0

Thirded. Not asked to turn anything on.
I did see some extra checks being done at Heathrow but they were after the gate, so on the way to the plane, and only a handful of targeted individuals.

It is at the gate/ immediately prior to boarding
Didnt see any evidence of it since flying from LGW and LHR since the changes but others have claimed to see it.0
