Halifax have is one straight away too the other week.0 -
The question is, of course, what you would do with a sort code and account number if you had no online access to your account, and no debit card an PIN for it, either.0

You also need to consider which banks have a post-opening process to check whether they really want you as a customer - RBS/NatWest are regularly mentioned on here for closing accounts a few days after they were opened.0

He has had a credit card with quite a high limit with RBS for years and applied for a current account. He went through the process and was provisionally accepted then was asked for his credit card number and passport number which were provided. That still wasn't enough and he now needs to go into a branch with a bank statement showing his wage and his address as well as his passport.
I know security and fraud prevention is important but this is ridiculous imo. It's a current account with no credit (he didn't want an overdraft, it's not a mortgage or loan.
I expect he wont bother fulfilling this and the application will lapse. Judging by what you say, that may be no bad thing.Herman - MP for all!

IMO Barclays are one of the best at opening accounts.
For personal lines accounts yes, for business accounts no. Had to have a total of 8 appointments to get it open, most due to the acceptability of the share certificates that were being given. I even used their own template which the RM had given me and when I came back the next week they said their own template wasnt actually acceptable either.0
