Morning all, i am looking for an easy quick bit of advice.

My current dual fuel deal with SSE runs out on October 1st where it will switch to a standard tariff. I have used MSE energy saving club to find myself the cheapest deal which is with another provider

My question is this:
I have an early get out fee linked to account for leaving before my current deal ends so do i just let them know i want to stop using them at the end of my current deal and Contact a new provider asking to start on October the 1st, or do i start the switchover process before then?
I just want to make sure i do it at the right time without incurring any fees etc and making the switchover as easy as possible

You can start your switch now, you won't have switched before the end of the month.
You cannot specify a start date. Nor do you need to inform SSE, your new supplier will do that.

Hi , I to am with SSE and although I wouldn't normally advise switching until the last 3 weeks of the contract I have received written confirmation that they won't apply exit fees if you start a switch within the last 49 days of the contract.

This is the only bit of OFGEM's recent changes that I agree with. People are now safe to switch in the knowledge that exit fees will not be applied and, if the switch goes through after the end of your current fixed term, you will stay on your present plan.
