Will opening a savings account help me get a current account?

I've been with tsb since I was 18 (3 years) and they have been good to me, allowing me to open two plus accounts so I have 3 account in total with them.
I tried to open a Halifax rewards a month ago but was rejected.
Reasons probably (default from 2 years ago, settled in full yesterday), 4 house moves in 3 years (student) and only 14 month on electoral register)
Anyway my tsb pluses are almost full so i need a new place for savings.
Positive things: Have 24 months O2 contract with all on time which will be closed soon. Was accepted for capital one after Halifax rejection so that will soon be reporting.
I would like the nationwide 5% account, I will wait a few months to apply but would leaving the money in a nationwide savings account till then help me with their "internal scoring".

If I remember correctly, the FlexDirect account comes with an overdraft facility. I think you can reject this when applying so they may not be so strict Credit Reportwise.LplateSaver wrote: »I would like the nationwide 5% account, I will wait a few months to apply but would leaving the money in a nationwide savings account till then help me with their "internal scoring".
As for opening a Savings Account first, I suspect the best anyone can say is "it can't hurt".Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
