Child turning 16 system update

I have just phoned tax credits and the system has updated my payments for my son turning 16 and normal payments will commence next week

I've just rang and mine haven't updated yet, hopefully they will sometime today so my payments go back to normal, has it generated a one of payment at all ?

No, I thought it might have done but it's just my normal payment on tuesday

I rang and they said it isn't back dated, they just add what they owe you to your claim, so you will get a tiny bit extra each week to cover what they owe you! This stinks, I've got two just started college, because I haven't had the renewal the college wont issue bus pass or free meals, so it's costing me over £20 a day for them to go and I haven't got it!!!

I had to laugh at the woman who said that ppl with children get loads more so should be able to manage!! I've got three boys, age 15 and two 16, they can eat a weeks shopping in 3 days, they have hollow legs, they have also grown over 4 inches each in the last year, so clothes are a problem too. Panicking here!!!

AND Can't get thru on the phone!! It asks you are all your details, takes approx 3 minutes then says they are all busy and goodbye and the phone cuts off!!!! They are racking it in on phone calls along! Seriously upset here!
