[solved] G24 PCN at Homebase car park + question

• Right, thinking about it, if I'm going to file that appeal, then I don't think it's good enough to just say that Homebase cancelled it and the other points in coupon's newbies thread. Being the dishonest people that they are, I suspect that they may simply say they never received any such instruction and launch the never ending template letters. I'd have to go to the trouble of receiving written confirmation from the manager first, scanning it and adding it to the appeal. Do you agree?

I agree with Stroma, just send an appeal in her name as the keeper (not saying who was driving!!) which says the Manager of Homebase has cancelled it but in any case clearly this charge represents no loss at all. As such she expects to hear from them within 14 days that the PCN is cancelled so she can throw the rubbish in the bin where it belongs.

If she got a rejection letter and POPLA code (highly unlikely in these circumstances) our templates win anyway v G24 so she'd still get it cancelled.

:)

When dealing with these situations there are number of things you have to assume

1) the landowner doesn't always cancel despite everything
2) the parking companies often don't obey the landowner
3) the parking companies are liars
4) the parking companies are in it for the money only

Now it's up to you, if number one doesn't happen then you are stuck with this for up to 6 years, g24 currently do not do court, exactly like parking eye 2 years ago, they are on course this year to exceed 30k times going there.

If you appeal they will likely drop it as they know you will win at popla , because they know the letter template, they know you will get help going there if needed.

• Ok Coupon, Stroma, looks like there might be some work to do after all <sigh>. My gut* still says just to leave it, but hey I'll consider your advice since you guys have so much experience fighting these cowboys. Thanks for the advice.

I think the starting point is to get the manager to give written confirmation of the cancellation, as that will really strengthen the appeal. I'll ask her to do this tomorrow.

And don't you worry, I won't be identifying the driver. ;)

*I do remember in my situation though, that when I fought my case a while back, I had the management company cancel the ticket after the thing had dragged on for months and that cancellation did work. Also, my friend in the OP never had any trouble with this, either.

You can't open a can of worms by appealing to G24. There are no worms in the can that could do anything to make this a 'problem' for your friend. Appealing is simply a way of getting a letter back to confirm it's cancelled.

Or contact the CEO of Homebase - paul.loft@homebase.co.uk - and ask him to confirm the cancellation. Sadly my mate Terry Duddy seems to have moved on :(
