Hi
I need to send ~£55k to my solicitors for a house purchase.
I've tried sending my using my online Halifax account but it exceeds their limit to external accounts (£25k)
Could I send it 2 x £25k + the extra on the same day? Or is the limit £25k per day?
If not, I assume I can go into a branch and do it in one go?
Thanks

If you want to send £55k in one day you will need to use a CHAPS payment at a cost of £250 -

Thanks, so if I were to go in branch and ask for a CHAPS payment to account no. X and sort code Y they could sort me out?
p.s I can't find much about CHAPS on the Halifax website besides the mention of the fee0 -

Looks likes £25K is the "daily account limit".
Do you just have the one Halifax account? What about partner?0 -
Yes just the one current account and a few savings accounts.
I have all the money so would have to transfer to partner (RBS) but surely may as well transfer that part to solicitors anyway.
From what I've read this CHAPS has a much higher (or maybe non-existant) limit?0 -
CHAPS has no limit as long as you have the funds available in your account.DEBT FREE!
Debt free by Xmas 2014: £3555.67/£4805.67 (73.99%)
Debt free by Xmas 2015: £1250/£1250 (100.00%)0 -

Depends how much you'd like to save the £25 fee of course.
Personally, as I would never transfer £1K, let alone £55K, without first making a £1 test payment and saving the payee details, I'd be using CHAPS (and have done previously in your situation) and taking the hit!0 -
Thanks YB, yes in this case I don't mind paying the £25 - it gets 'done' in one go, and in the grand scheme of how much its costing me, it seems quite cheap by comparison!0

You could setup as an annual standing order and cancel once sent.
The Halifax limit for these is listed as £99,999This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Open an online saver, transfer the money from current into it and then you can send £99k a day.
