Can I apply reclaim for PPI with No paperwork?

Hi Guys,

Apologies if i'm in the wrong forum, i hope i have it right.

I have a really daft question. We have had loans, credit cards and mortgages in the past but none of these now (ok one credit card) but we don't have a scrap of paper to back these up and neither of us can remember who we used for each of them (except one of two loans was with the AA).
Can we apply on the off chance we were charged and hidden insurances/charges it without being asked? If so we would have to use a company of sorts to do the leg work.

We have never thought of trying before as we no information and just didn't think we would get anywhere but we are seeing so much about not needing all the info - thought we had nothing to lose in trying.

Thanks for reading.

  • There is no "hidden insurance" and no company you employ will ever find any. If you had PPI and don't know about it then you've either forgotten about it and/or you don't read any statements or agreements.

Any "legwork" must be done by you alone, no claims management company will do research on your behalf.

You cannot "apply" for a refund, in order to have redress awarded to you a robust mis-selling complaint must be presented. Do you have such a complaint?

As above - insurance wasn't hidden as such. In most situations, it's inclusion in the agreement was fairly clear. However there are occasions where it would be quite easy not that the insurance had been included.

You do not need paperwork. However be aware that if some of the cards or loans were taken out a long time ago, then you will be in a tricky position should the financial business not have records. Your lack of documents also somewhat restricts the complaint you can make... you can't really be specific with details etc.

Foremost - do not use a claims company. You can make a complaint on your own.
  • Doesn't sound like we need to apply then. These adverts can be so misleading :)

    Thanks for your advice.

You don't "apply", you complain (if you actually have a valid complaint).
