Holiday Anxiety - cannot get excited!

  • you ARE powerless over the volcano, but you aren't powerless about what you can do if it decides to do its worst. You should make plans BOTH ways. look forward to the holiday but plan for the other eventuality too, you know the insurance will cover it so maybe plan a (I know less thrilling) holiday in say.. the lake district.. or Paris! Something to focus your agitated mind on other than catastrophizing (what my councillor called it).

I had a very similar thing earlier this year, was due to fly off on hols then my stupid OH went and collapsed his lung (I know, how DARE he?!) and we didn't know if we'd be able to fly until 4 days before we went. I planned a boating trip in Norfolk instead and was actually almost disappointed when we flew off to Turkey in the end heh heh!

That's such a good idea. I don't cope well with planning around things that are out of my control so tend to expect the worst so that I won't be as disappointed if it doesn't happen but having a complete back-up plan is genius!! :T

    What excellent advice!

It is easy to get anxious when you don't have any control over a situation - so take control and relax. :T
