Tax credits award letter

Friend has just received her letter.
She earned £8930 last year and is disabled. Works 30 hours a week. No other income and she's 55 and has no partner or children.
They have given her an award of £4653.95 for 2014-2015. Does this seem right? She's panicking in case it@s wrong and she has to pay it back.
Also, this week, she has dropped her hours down to 27 a week from 30, for a fixed period of 6 months, for health reasons. Does she need to tell HMRC now or at the next renewal?

The WTC seems right based on that income, she will need to inform HMRC she is working less than 30 hours but 16 or more as she will lose the 30hr element which will reduce tax credits by £15 per week.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

Thanks. I'll tell her.0

Hi, could anyone tell me how long child tax credits take to recalculate an award once a child reaches 16, my payment did not go in today and am just wondering when the payment will be issued.
Tax credits have my child's college details so if anyone could tell me how long they take it would be appreciated and also will they pay this week's money or spread it out over the remaining award.
Many thanks.:)0 -

So her income will be less than she has previously told them because of losing the three hours a week for the six month period. Will her tax credits still go down? She is actually going to lose 1.5 hours a week when calculated over the whole of the year so should she declare that she's working 27 or 28.5 hours a week?0 -
Oh right...so it's only the 30 hour element that'll be lost then?
I thought that was different if you had a disability...?0 -
Thanks blondebubbles. You have been very helpful and it's much appreciated.0
