JSA and Housing Benefit, how often savings proof required?

Hi, all,
I'm claiming both and I just wondered how often you have to provide proof of your savings. It fluctuates, how much I go over the amount declared. Never normally more than a hundred pounds, but my father gave me some money recently, and now it's about six hundred. I don't want to have to keep calling them to tell them I'm a hundred or so over, it's daft, and will affect my benefits by a pound or something a week, but I don't want to get in trouble either. Thanks a lot.

Does this extra money take you over the £6K lower savings limit? If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0

yes, but the maximum so far was £120. I think it works out something like for every thousand you're over you receive a pound or something less. Just seems stupid calling them and saying I'm £20 over this week. So I'd rather not, but I don't want to get a letter asking to see my bank statements and then having to explain, you know how daft they can be about such things.0

For every £250 above £6,000 your benefit will be deducted by a £1, it is your responsibilty to inform DWP.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

any benefit you receive isn't counted until the end of the payment period e.g if you are paid 2 weeks in arrears it doesn't count for 2 weeks0

If in receipt of JSA I you inform the DWP and they adjust your JSA I
If in receipt of JSA C you inform your Local Council and they adjust your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.
Lots of Councils now have a capital limit of just £6,000 for Council Tax Support so you could have your Council Tax Support claim cancelled. These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0 -
Go and spend some money.0

Our Council asks you to let them know if your savings change more than £500. Not clear if that is accumulative or £500 at any one time0
