Complicated

A group of us were due to go away for a weekend break this weekend, this was booked by one of the girls so all I have is a booking number. Unfortunately due to sudden illness I am no longer able to travel. She has cancelled my booking but only received a small amount of refund & was told I would need to claim myself for cancellation. Where on earth do I start? The booking was made with BA. Any suggestions greatfully received.
Thank you
Cazz

You just need a copy of the holiday invoice so that you can claim your portion on your travel insurance.

There probably isn't an invoice if you only booked flights with BA but the confirmation email should show the cost per seat and you will only get back the actual taxes, indeed I think for the cheapest seats BA don't even offer them back. Call you insurer and ask what documentation they need, almost certainly a medical report but the insurer may have a specific form for the doctor to complete, so call and find out

You need to look at your excess though, it depends on that if its worth claiming or not.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
