Advice needed urgently please

I'm after some urgent advice. My sister lives in Dublin. She went on holiday to Turkey last week, renting an apartment from her boss. She became poorly & was rushed to hospital where she's now in ICU. She has pneumonia & acute leukemia. She's too poorly to fly home & the hospital is stopping treatment because she didn't take out travel insurance. Her chances of survival are 20%. Is there anything we can do to raise money urgently or go for help & advice?

Oh dear, I am so sorry this has happened. Short of asking family to help out I don't think there is anything else you can do to be honest.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I am so sorry to hear this, have you tried contacting the Irish Embassy in Turkey for advice.0

Flumina - I really don't know. I can't believe she didn't. So, so silly. Turkey want the money upfront. I'm on a dmp so I couldn't borrow the money
. If all the family donated what they could, we still wouldn't be anywhere near the £28,000
cherylsurrey - her stepdad has rang everybody & everywhere he can possibly think of for help & advice. He has an appointment first thing tomorrow morning with somebody high up from the Irish government who will give a yes or no answer to funding the £28,000 to fly her home. We've got everything crossed for a yes. If it's a no, we'll have no choice but to raise at least some of the money from fundraising. We have no idea where to start with this though. The flight home could kill her but staying in Turkey with no treatment will kill her. My heads a mess & I Just don't know what to do. I'm here in Manchester, stepdad in Ireland & my sister in Turkey. It's the getting her home from Turkey that's the obstacle. I'm sorry for the rant. I lost my mum this time last year so it's hitting us very hard.

None of her credit cards, or bank account, have travel insurance lumped in as part of the package? How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Yes, I thought maybe check out the insurance. What about house insurance? Does that have anything that would help?
Is your sisters boss able to help? Any funds available from her work for employee welfare? or maybe her boss could help in terms of logistics, speaking the language etc?
Another thing that might work is to do an appeal on local tv/radio/in the local newspaper to see if any local businesses could help in any way, or a facebook appeal?
Do you need to find the £28k to fly her home or is that for the treatment? Could you pay in installments?
You can easily stop payments into your dmp for a while. Just phone your dmp provider and explain the situation to them and say you need to take a month or 2 off paying. Ok it won't raise 28k but might give you enough to fly over to be with her or to pay for a hotel out there or something.
Do you have a house at all? I'm wondering whether a company would let you pay in installments if they know that if you failed they could apply to the courts for an order against your house? I know this is a totally crazy idea but this isnt normal circumstances and you are obviously desperate.
I hope you are able to find some way through this.
Sending my best wishes

Good luck for your sisters recovery. I hope she makes a full recovery.
It just shows the importance of getting travel insurance because these crappy countries will let you die. Not everywhere is like the U.K.
If you cant afford the insurace then dont go.0
