Switching from pre payment to DD and taking Nest/Hive
Hi there,
Hoping someone can help me in the right direction, I've spent hours reading about this and still none the wiser as to what I should do!
We bought a house a few months ago which has pre payment meters for both gas & electric, both supplied by Scottish Power.
We'd very much like them changed and no reason to believe we'll have issues with a credit check as we've had DD supply in our rented flat.
However, we're also considering getting either Nest or Hive and I can't work out for the life of me what to do now.
I've been through a couple of comparisons and it seems the cheapest supplier is First Utility though that's only on estimated usage, I do worry about these guys too as there's some horror stories on here. The next cheapest appears to be EDF. What's the process for switching though, do I contact the incumbent i.e Scottish Power or the company I would like to switch too and ask them to fit a standard meter as part of the switch?
Also presumably Nest/Hive work with any supplier? You just buy the unit and pay for installation?
Sorry I'm sure I'm over complicating this....if anyone has any advice I'd massively appreciate it!
Thanks
