DO NOT USE THIS SITE.

My boyfriend got me what he thought was a 'babyliss pro perfect curl' for my birthday for what he thought was a great deal.

It came from china, which was his first indication. Wrapped in bubblewrap with the box folded up inside the wrap. Second clue

And it doesn't work. It heats and beeps and whatever but the motor doesn't work.
Therefore: useless.

He's kicking himself because that's £83 potentially down the drain which we really cannot afford right now (or ever really) and he's not having much luck with getting a response from the company.
He's usually a lot more sensible than this so he's really annoyed at himself.
Also: he paid on debit card not credit card so he can't cancel the payment.

I'm upset because it's such a waste of money and I was so excited.
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

Well done for warning others. I suspect you will need to contact your bank or card company and try for a charge-back for a fake item.

Other indicators they are scammers :
    Prices are too cheap.
There are random foreign languages (eg Vous aimerez aussi...) on the pages.
Contact page has no information, just a webform to submit.
It just doesn't look professional enough for a big company.

All of those together with the whois record : http://www.nominet.org.uk/whois/lookup?query=ukbabyliss.co.uk

Showing the site is registered to a fake address in China.

I wouldnt use the site but then I would buy from either the high street (using click and collect) or a website like Amazon.

No contact details would put me off.

Yeah. He was apparently so excited to work out what he could get me that he didn't look through the site properly.

Don't worry, we're feeling suitably angry at ourselves.

We've called our card company and emailed the appropriate people so hopefully it should get sorted.

I would advise your boyfriend to keep an eye on his bank statements over the next month or so. The reason I say this is because the payment processor, Forsecurityshoppings.com, was only created five weeks ago and has a fake address on its Domain Registration.

    https://who.godaddy.com/whoisstd.aspx?domain=forsecurityshoppings.com&prog_id=GoDaddy&k=Xg2ciLSg1JG4%2fR0kk+vXLYq6fc18ziKWjFOE4LkejO28pXfZImduthUzKAKJR%2fZS2PWHett3UO8%3d

The payment page is unencrypted and the certification seals at the bottom of the page are all fake. I believe that there is a possibility that Forsecurityshoppings.com may be used for identity fraud or credit card cloning.

I also suggest you pass the message onto people you know, don't have to tell them about the purchase just that the site isn't the genuine article/the real macoy

Have you actually instigated the 'chargeback' procedure with your debit card provider?

Frankly, I'd cancel the debit card as well, better the inconvenience of that for a few days until he gets a new one than have this bite him in the @r$e when least expecting it somewhere down the line.

Ebay seems to have the cheapest ones & at least come with some guarantee if a purchase goes pear shaped.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.
