Garage Asbestos Roof

Garage roof beam is rotten, the ends are exposed and one of them immediately needs changing.
The garage roof is thought to be asbestos, until its tested.
If I follow the Asbestos working guidelines, dampen the roof etc, do you think its possible to remove the old nails, support this roof and replace the beam?
Is this allowed? Will a builder does this type of work?
In the short term, i guess we could Acro Prop the beam back into place and see if the leak stops.

The best method is to cut the nails off, rather than pulling them out of the material. From the photo it does look like AC which (as some will no doubt say shortly) is a low health risk product. This does not mean smash it up with no concern though!
Do you intend to replace the roof sheets or re-use them and simply replace the beam? How do you expect the repair the roof / leak? No point replacing the beam and ignoring the leak.YNWA

If you look at the picture, the black electrical conduit has been pushed down by the beam. The roof only leaks in this area, and hence the masses of sealant on the roof.
I suspect that beam has rotted away (the ends are not covered) and therefore given up..exposing the nails as it has fallen.
The plan...well an idea, would be to
Support Roof
Remove the whole row of nails.
Remove the beam
Pass through new beam
Pack / Re-Point beam
Secure roof to beam
Remove support
Treat exposed ends
Fix Facia etc0 -

I had looked at the photo - apologies for missing where the damp came from.
If the damp is due to the failed beam rather than the failed beam being due to the damp (as I had assumed), then I would assume that the replacement of the beam would potentially resolve the issue, unless the movement has caused other damage.
Plan sounds fine to me, but please consider wearing a mask when working so closely to the roof, although low risk, for the sake of a couple of pounds for a mask its not worth not doing it imo. It is true that cement sheet is typically hard to inhale but you are doing an action that could cause dust through scraping the material etc.

Legal or not legal, you'll always find a builder who won't care about it aslong as he's getting paid.0
