Ideas on cheap holiday for 2 months

Looking for some ideas on cheap extended holiday fun.

Sold my house after divorce and need some fun holidays for a few months whilst my new vehicle arrives. Existing vehicle cannot be trusted to tow my caravan. I'm retired and want to be off enjoying myself.

Anywhere cheap for long term and preferably where English spoken but not essential.

Maybe good train or bus service so I can get around?

Maybe where I could socialise and meet someone?

I'm adventurous, like outdoors, walking, camping, skiing, chilling out etc. but don't think I could do hostels.

Appreciate there will be countries where young women would find a 65 year old attractive but I'm not sure that would be for me.

Holiday lets look expensive as they are generally intended for groups and families.

Simple but very clean accommodation would be OK.

Preferably UK or Europe for now but would consider long haul.

Really ? Please let me know where, and I'll book my ticket !

Have a look on travel republic for a build your own break, skyscanner for flights and alpharooms for hotels.

You've given no budget, as one person's cheap is another's expensive.

You're going to struggle in Europe with regards to English speaking; some have it as a secondary or other language, but you will find people who speak no english whatsoever. If that's a problem, then you need to consider English speaking only.

Have you considered somewhere like the Canary Islands, the Azores, Cape Verde (all warm mostly year round), south of Spain (plenty of ex-pat brits), French Riviera (not cheap!), Greece (most speak English and it can be cheap), or somewhere like Croatia/Bulgaria which is super cheap.

You need to research into places you'd like to go, and then when you have an idea of where on the planet it is you would like, we could possibly suggest resorts, hotels etc.

There are plenty of long term lets available around the Spanish Costas where you should be able to rent self contained accommodation for £4/500 pcm if staying for more than a month.

Price is my main consideration, if I was renting a house over here it would be roughly £500 per month so was looking for something similar if that's realistic?

Somewhere like Spain and a few Brits. may be best in my present state of mind.

Croatia/Bulgaria which is super cheap, could be interested but I'm sure there would a language problem there.

That's probably the sort of thing and budget. Also, think they have a good train service too.

There's an excellent train service right down the coast from Barcelona to Alicante and, in most areas, definitely no shortage of Brits!

For a cheap holiday at this time of year your really can't beat the Costa del Sol. Not the most sophisticated place in the world but there are loads of budget airline flights from regional airports to Malaga and there is an excellent train service which runs along the coast as far as Fuengirola (there were plans to extend it to Marbella but they ran out of money). Everywhere will still be busy with those who don't have kids taking advantage of lower prices after the school holidays.

If you are on your own then I wouldn't bother with a package, just book the flight and hotel then head off for some fun.

I've always got good hotel prices through https://www.alpharooms.com/

Otherwise the Greek islands can be good at this time of year. No train service to speak of but you could spend a couple of days in Athens then go island hopping for a few weeks, following your nose.
