Coop Bank Credit card ppi claim rejected - 'I signed the application'

Hi
I made a PPI claim against Cooperative Bank for my credit card taken out in 1998 when I was self employed. I have been continuously self employed since that date so any claim made against my PPi would have been rejected.
My claim was rejected swiftly with a copy of my original application form enclosed where I had ticked the box that said 'I require PPI'.
is this a clearcut end to my claim or is there anything I can go to the FSO with? In my mind I didn't understand what PPI was or the implications of being self employed but they see it differently
Thanks
Anna

Why do you think that being self employed is a valid complaint reason? It can be with some types of PPI but many types of PPI self employed are covered fine.My claim was rejected swiftly with a copy of my original application form enclosed where I had ticked the box that said 'I require PPI'.
So, no-one sold you PPI. You bought it.is this a clearcut end to my claim or is there anything I can go to the FSO with? In my mind I didn't understand what PPI was or the implications of being self employed but they see it differently
Most online application complaints fail because no-one sold it to you. However, some succeed where the box was tick to not have it or where the wording gave the impression it was advised and there is a failing under an advised case (non-advised cases have lower requirements to be met).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). With the OP saying she ticked a box to have cover, it sounds like this is an uphill battle for her.0

Yes, it also sounds like a postal application rather than an online one-meaning there will be no "pre-ticked" box for PPI either.magpiecottage wrote: »With the OP saying she ticked a box to have cover, it sounds like this is an uphill battle for her.0 -
Thanks all for your replies. Yes it was a postal application. There was no explanation on the form as to what PPI was but I can't say for certain whether there was a separate explanatory leaflet. It was worth a try I guess0
