Any reason flights in 1-15 of October are more expensive?

We are trying to book flights between the 29th of September and the 14th of October, flexible with dates though.
We noticed the prices for flights during this time are much higher as if we would book the same flights for this week or next week or even 2 weeks from now!
Any reason why the prices for October are so expensive?
We're looking at LON-NY and MIA-LON, so going to New York and then coming back from Miami ... we looked for the same flights even for 2 days from now and they come much cheaper ... any idea why's that?

You've got a national holiday in USA on the 2nd monday of october so its likely to push up the price a bit on the surrounding dates. Wondering if there its a half term date for either UK or USA (dont have kids)?
A quick google shows that US schools do normally break for a week for the Columbus Day holiday so that would be my guess at the price driver0 -
Thanks ..!0

Uk half terms for this Oct seem to be across the last week (27-31st-ish) so the US break you suggested is probably why
Change is inevitable...nothing stays the same forever

Some Scottish Schools are off for half term. In Fife they come off on the 10th October for 2 weeks :-(0
