short break in budapest - hotel recommendations?

We are planning a short break in Budapest at the end of September. I understand the city spreads across the river, being Buda on one side and Pesh(t) on the other? Is this correct? If so we should like to stay in the old quarter whichever bank that is. Can anyone recommend a medium priced hotel? We prefer modern fittings if possible. Wifi a must for OH to stay in touch with work.

We stayed at the Buda Castle Fashion hotel. Enjoyed the stay, hotel was quiet, clean, bathroom was lovely with a large walk in shower and a bath, modern fittings and underfloor heating. It was a walk across the river to the main shopping area and we used the funicular railway a couple of times.
At the airport you go to a pre pay taxi office, tell them where you want to go and then queue for a taxi, on the return journey they rang the same company from reception for us, so no wondering about dodgy taxis or being ripped off.
We visited for the Christmas market, which was really festive.
