Does anyone have any ideas as to why my internet connection keeps dropping out and wiping out all of the details, causing me to have to create a new connection each time.
It happens every time I use the internet. (7 times tonight)
I run xp with service pack 2
Any ideas??

Are you on broadband or dial up.
Have you updated software of late.
Is this a new set up or change of ISP.
if broadband try visiting https://www.dslreports.com > test+ tools > tweak test.
It's free and the site will offer advice although somewhat generic.0 -

Do you te re-enter your user name & password each time or create a new connection?
keeping user name & pass is a simple option you can easily activate.
If you are making new connection, this is suspicious, you need to run spyware utility and then Antivirus.
You can get a free spyware checker from lavasoft and simply let it scan your PC, (select full system scan the first time you use it)
I say this because there isn't any direct windows implemetation that can cause your connection to dissapear without manually deleting it. and this is why i strongly suspect malicious software.
Some software my be making a new connection and this would stop your real connection from being default and wouldn't be selected to use to connect to the net and seem like it has dissapeared.
Anyway I would run spyware and antivirus.0
