It's far easier not to bother with sending copies of vehicle ownership paperwork to prove you have two vehicles and making pleadings to PE.

There is no no guarantee this will be successful, you may also inadvertently time yourself out from getting a POPLA code, through which, with a little bit of help from us, guarantee of success is much greater.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Ok, I have found the ticket!!! To be fair, it is entirely my fault. I put the registration of our other car into the machine by mistake. I guess I will now have to prove that my husband owns both cars (a bit difficult as we've currently misplaced the one for the car in question). I think the best route is to go down the straightforward appeal route, which will give me some time to find the registration document and then I can send copies of all the documentation which will hopefully be adequate. What a numpty - I am cross with myself but it was so stressful with moving house, having the other car fail its MOT and going on holiday!

so you input an incorrect registration, well the punishment for that is a bungee jump with no rope, oh wait, its only a small mistake and no loss to the landowner, so a simple check of their machines using the correct VRN would gain a cancellation once identified , wouldnt it ? lol

if not , its popla time, but keep hold of the actual ticket and only give copies in as evidence to the parking company and to popla

but your main case is not a gpeol, no contract, poor signage, and the fact that the ticket machine shouldnt allow tickets for reg numbers not logged into the anpr system , but tell you to use the correct one on the second go

Well that MIGHT work for the initial appeal to PE as they sometimes cancel (submit the appeal online). But STILL don't say who was driving! Put 'we' throughout!

And if Parking Eye turn that sort of appeal down, DON'T REPEAT IT at POPLA stage! It would lose, it's mitigation. Winning POPLA appeals are as shown in the newbies thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Appeal to PE with a photo of the ticket, a photo of both of your cars next to each other showing the reg plates and explain what happened.

They are the PPC most likely to cancel at this stage.
  • I appealed to Parking Eye, adding an extra paragraph to the template relating to the input of an incorrect registration. I also gave a brief explanation of my error, and attached pics of the registration document as supporting evidence. The charge has been cancelled. Thank you to everyone for your help. You are real stars in giving up your time to help others out. Many thanks :-)
